Mos Generator - Shadowlands (album review)

When you want to hear some fresh new music, look no further than Mos Generator. Their new disk, Shadowlands (Listenable Records) drops May 18. I let out a huge sigh of relief in the first track. Mos Generator's Shadowlands is a solid hard rock album. Bassist Sean Booth and drummer Jono Garrett lay down some wicked work that reminds me of the Brooklyn Bridge, it's a classic, baby! Tony Reed takes on guitarist/vocalist/principal songwriter duties and it's mana to my ears. Sure, it's their seventh, eighth album; but, there is such a purity to the music, that you come back for more. Shadowlands is going to be a go to album for years to come.

'Stolen Ages' the fourth track on the album has this wondrous earthy feel to it. The guitars are so grounded. Sometimes the lyrics can be a bit maudlin, but it's counterbalanced by the buoyancy of the music. Mos Generator's Shadowlands is mix of funky bluesy psychedelic rock. 'Gamma/Hydra' has this beat, this ambiance, this chill factor that is wicked as hell.

There is so much in Shadowlands to like. It's the perfect summer and beyond album.
