Moonspell (Live Review)

Moonspell

What can you say?
Quite a lot actually. I had the pleasure of meeting up with them on the latest tour. A tour where they were not the headliners and boasted of an eight song setlist. The intimacy of the small stage and quaint venue enhanced the live performance. the music had a rich, Earthy tone. There is a joi d' vive in a Moonspell show. You feel the music in your bones. Surrounded by like minded fans, everyone in the crowd knew songs like "Alma Mater" where prior to its playing, the entire venue erupted into howls.

Fernando thanked the audience for their hospitality. Hell, we should be thanking them! Miguel Gaspar: Thank you for the complexity of rhythms you play. Pedro Paixao: Thank you for the amazing atmospheric keyboard work. Aires Pereira: Thank you for some wicked bass lines. Ricardo Amorim: Thank you for flawless and amazing guitar work, like ever! Fernando Ribeiro: Thank you for your voice.

The sheer heaviness and power of a live Moonspell show is not to be missed. I wrote almost 1,000 words reviewing Live From Lisboa DVD and CD's. However, being not 5 ft. from the stage is an experience.

The Pressroom in Phoenix, AZ was a great place to see Moonspell. Those in attendance were rewarded with an amply spaced concrete slab of a venue with amazing air conditioning.

The moderate sized stage is flanked by video screens and very comfortable sofas. The chandeliers add that touch of class all venues need. Add to that clean and numerous toilets and you have a venue that encourages repeat visitations.

2. 1755
3. In Tremor Dei
