Well that escalated quickly. It's only half way thru December and I've already got a corker for 2019. Archangel A.D. to release second album entitled Warband. It's a great straight ahead metal headbanging tome. The vocals are just growly enough to be harsh but not so you can't understand what is being said. The guitars are shredtastic. The runs seem familiar, almost Metallica-like. The romp of the compositions definitely evoke some older Metallica. This is what makes Warband such a good album. You don't have to figure out any themes or haughty motives for the music. It's unabashed metal. There is no new ground being broken, no frue-frue productions; it's just heavy metal. There are only six songs on Warband, but Archangel A.D. rushes in, punches you in the face, smashes up the furniture, then runs away again. "Blightning" is the stand out track because it sounds like classic thrash Metallica. Archangel A.D. can pull this off because they are damn good musicians. If you want a headbanging romp then definitely pick up Warband. You can wait until January 11th to get a physical copy, or download from their Bandcamp. Remember, when you do that, the band gets the dosh!
