MALAMORTE - Antichrist (Official Lyric Video + Review)

Malamorte
Hell For All
Rockshots Records

I like this album for the strangest reason. I gloamed onto it because of the song titles:
   01. Advent 0:50
   02. Antichrist 4:17
   03. Warriors Of Hell 4:36
   04. Holy Or Unholy 5:48
   05. Mother 4:55
   06. Hell For All 4:42
   07. Son 4:47
   08. The Worshipers Of Evil 3:51
   09. Satan's Slave 5:08
   10. God Is Nothing 4:39

I was hoping it was some crazy deep concept album about the Crusades or something. Then what graced my ears was Malamorte sporting some bitchin' 90s metal. From the wonderful, yet metal edged tenor of singer Alessandro Nunziati to the crazy stock 90s guitar riffs Hell For All is a jaunty throwback to the gilded age of metal. Sure, the subject matter is a bit on the dark side, however, there is something inherently happy about the music. 'Warriors of Hell' is my favourite track on the album, "... we will fight. ..we are the warriors, the warriors of hell... we are the sinners, we are the saints, we are the two, we are you..."    The guitars are kinda like Maiden - something Janick Gers would play if Maiden ever fully utilized him. It's almost like a footy song sung in the pub after a match. 'Holy or Unholy' missed it's time This needed to be out in the 90s on MTV, playing after a Whitesnake video! The chorus is singalong able and many a "model" could slather around on top of a car to it. The consistency of the guitar sound throughout Hell For All is sweet. There are some good fret board run work, guitar solos, and rhythm guitar that is strong. 'Mother' is another great hey-I-have-heard-this-song-before-but-can't-quite-place-it song. It's heavily influenced by King Diamond, Merciful Fate, Testament. It alternates between sludgy and sing songy. It's creepy in a sophomoric kind of way. It's like the more I heard it, the more I liked it. I really was transported back in time. 'Satan's Slave'... just ... this... "...Satan is my master!...." This is the song. Seriously. Why do I giggle with glee when I hear this song. It makes me soooooo damn happy!! This is the great thing about Malamorte's newest offering and the worst thing. On one hand it's a relic, a transplant from a fun metal time. On the other, it's a relic, a transplant from a fun metal time. If you really liked the 90s for the different types of metal music, then Malamorte is an amazing album. But, there is nothing 2019 about it, know that going in.
